In November 2009, ACSO was successful in securing funding from the Australian Government (Jobs Fund) for an innovative social enterprise project “Scanners R Us”.
The idea for “Scanners R Us” came after ACSO moved premises and decided to scan the paper files and records from each ACSO program. A quarter of a million files were scanned and are now stored electronically. The “Scanners R Us” project will build on the learning and fantastic outcomes from the ACSO scanning team.
The purpose of the “Scanners R Us” project is to employ 70 job seekers over a two year period to deliver a scanning service to community based organizations.
Many businesses and other organizations have a massive number of records to keep. This can become unmanageable and costly in terms of providing adequate space for them. Records may become difficult to access or may be lost due to the large quantity.
For this reason, having records scanned and accessible via a disk is a great comfort (and space-saver!) for businesses.
The project will be underway and delivering scanning services to community organizations and local businesses in March, 2010. If you would like more information about the project,
please see the attached flier. If you would like to employ the services of “Scanners R Us”, please contact the Project Coordinator on 03 9411 4702.
“Scanners R Us” is funded under the Federal Government’s Jobs Fund Program. In the attachment below is a list of the national projects that were funded in the First Round.
