
This is the 7th Annual ACSO Art Show displaying works by clients of ACSO’s various residential, clinical, and outreach services. Art is one of the therapeutic media used by staff to encourage clients to express emotions, perceptions, feelings and thoughts. In this way, art also serves as a communication medium regardless of the creator’s verbal or written language skills. Through these annual art shows, the public is offered insight into the artists’ life experiences.
ACSO held its 5th Art Show from 3 - 7 August 2009, and displayed client art from a range of services including ACSO, Department of Justice and Department of Human Services.
More than 50 of the pieces on display were sold throughout the week, with all proceeds going to the artists. A few of the many peices the contributing artists put a great deal of effort into are displayed are below.
The Problematic Sexual Behaviour Service (PSBS) works with individuals over 12 years of age who have an intellectual disability and are at risk of committing, or have committed, sex offences. The service offers:
ACSO's Disability Program Residential Services are funded to provide high quality community-based accommodation for people with disabilities. The servces encourage developmental opportunities and individual choice, enable maximumum integration within the community, and promote a lifestyle similar to those of otehr community members.
